Hotel Voorbeeld, on the Keizersgracht.

Ten rooms, a handful of people, and a website that takes over reception the moment nobody is standing behind the desk.

The site

The homepage of Hotel Voorbeeld: the headline 'A quiet canal house in the middle of Amsterdam', a short introduction, the 'Book a room' button, and below it an illustration of the canal at night.
Hotel Voorbeeld as the site stands live today. Screenshot from August 2026 – not redrawn, not retouched.

In the hand

Where the booking actually happens

Guests search on a phone, often late at night. That is where a site is made or broken: one glance, one thumb, one button.

  • The same site – no separate mobile version to maintain.
  • The booking conversation sits bottom right, always within reach.
  • No cookie wall to dismiss first.
The same site on a phone screen: the headline across four lines, the 'Book a room' button, and the booking conversation button at the bottom right.

To be straight with you: Hotel Voorbeeld is not an existing client but our reference project – a canal hotel we invented so we could run the entire Mansio stack on it, from design to confirmation email. Everything you see genuinely works and is publicly online; you can try it yourself. That way you don't have to take our word from a screenshot.

The brief

What a small hotel actually needs

A hotel with ten rooms has no marketing department. It needs a site that holds up on the phone of someone looking for a room at half past eleven at night, and a way to lock that room in immediately.

Most small hotels solve that with a button to a portal. It works – and it costs a percentage of every booking, plus the guest who drops out halfway because they are suddenly somewhere else. We wanted to know how far you get when the booking simply lives in the site.

Our part

What we did

From the first sketch to the email the guest finds in their inbox afterwards.

  • Brand and design: colour, type, rhythm, and the imagery chosen.
  • All the copy written, in three languages.
  • The site built – by hand, with no theme or page builder.
  • The booking system installed, with room types, rates and rules.
  • The confirmation emails set, to guest and to reception.
  • Put live, measured, and kept in maintenance since.

Your hotel belongs here.

We take on a small number of projects at a time, so every house gets the attention a portfolio deserves.
